Northwestern State coach Mike McConathy - whose Demons upset third-seeded Iowa in the 2006 NCAA tournament on a buzzer-beater - told The Associated Press on Tuesday that he has applied to become the Hawkeyes next coach. McConathy said that he doesn't consider himself a candidate because, as of Tuesday afternoon, the school has yet to contact him.
