Lewisburg, PA -- The Wagner College women's water polo team wrapped up play at the Bucknell Invitational with a 9-4 victory over Grove City College earlier this morning. The victory pushes Wagner's record to 6-4 through the first 10 games of the 2007 season.
It was a tightly contested game early on with the score tied at two after the first period. The Seahawks would expand their lead to 5-3 at halftime before opening things up in the second half outscoring the Wolverines 4-1 en route to the win.
Sophomore Alexandra Tomlinson (Telford, PA/Souderton) led the Green & White with three goals while juniors Camille Karimzad (Walnut Creek, CA/Campolindo) and Yvette Viramontes (Montebello, CA/Montebello) each notched two scores. Corrine Travous (New Ulm, MN/Cumberland Valley) and Lindsey Rodgers (Anaheim Hills, CA/Canyon) each scored a goal as well in the victory.
Senior Katie Hauck (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) played the majority of the game in net discarding 11 Grove City shots. Junior Billy Hoelck (San Diego, CA/U. of San Diego HS) finished the game in the cage.
Wagner will next venture to Harvard University on March 3 and 4 for the ECAC Championships. The seedings for this tournament have yet to be released but possible opponents include Bucknell, Maryland, and MAAC foe Marist.
