Seahawks Foil Colonials 13-5

Lewisburg, PA --The Wagner College water polo squad rebounded nicely after a morning loss to Bucknell by handling George Washington 13-5 to push their record back to two games over .500 at 5-3. The Seahawks have one more game left on today's docket of games as they will do battle with Maryland this afternoon.

As for this contest, it was really never in doubt. Wagner broke an early 1-1 stalemate with three straight goals to open up 4-1 advantage. The Colonials would counter with three goals in the second period but Wagner would counter that with five of their own. At the half the Green & White were in control 9-4. The second half saw the scoring slow down but more dominance from Wagner as they outscored GW 4-1 en route to the 13-5 win.

Senior co-captain Stacey Travous (New Ulm, MN/Cumberland Valley) anchored the Wagner attack with four goals while junior Billy Hoelck (San Diego, CA/U. of San Diego HS) added three scores of her own. Alexandra Tomlinson (Telford, PA/Souderton) notched her first score of the season and was joined by Natasha Peterson (Whittier, CA/La Habra), Anne Wolkenhauer (Fullerton, CA/Fullerton), Amber McMichael (Reading, PA/Governer Mifflin), and Camille Karimzad (Walnut Creek, CA/Campolindo) as goal scorers on the day.

Senior Katie Hauck (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) played the whole way in net condemning eight Colonial shots for the win.
