Saint Louis senior outside hitter Tatyana Menshikova (Ivanovo, Russia) has been named Atlantic 10 Conference Volleyball Co-Player of the Week, and freshman setter Whitney Roth (Louisville, Ky. / Assumption) was named the A-10 Volleyball Rookie of the Week for the period ending Nov. 12. Menshikova shares the award with Charlotte's Eden Ramos. Roth earns the honor for the third time this season after previously being recognized by the league on Sept. 11 and Oct. 24.
Menshikova registered a match-high 26 kills with three blocks in an important road victory over Xavier. She followed that effort with 24 kills while hitting .404 in the win at Dayton as the Billikens earned a tie for the best conference record at 11-2. Menshikova leads the league in kills per game at 4.65.
Roth notched double-doubles in road matches at Xavier and Dayton. She dished out 62 assists with 12 digs and two blocks in the win over the Musketeers. The next day, Roth handed out 57 assists to go along with 14 digs and three kills against the Flyers. She has amassed 1,340 assists this season, tied for the third most in a single season SLU. Roth ranks third in the league in assists per game at 13.01.
The Billikens (19-8, 11-2 A-10) have earned the No. 3 seed at the A-10 Tournament and begin play against No. 6 seed Fordham on Fri., Nov. 17, at 4 p.m. (CT) in Dayton, Ohio.
