Keri Vance set up the Peacock offense with 58 assists versus William Penn

Upper Iowa traveled to Oskaloosa, Iowa for their tenth match of the season at William Penn University. The Peacocks and Lady Statesmen played a tough, five set match that saw the road team pick up the tight victory. Upper Iowa won sets one, three, and five to pull out the win and improve their record to 7-3. The fifth set was dominated by UIU who scored 13 of their 15 points in the final set on kills.
The Peacocks were led on offense by the junior from Camanche, Iowa, Shea Meyermann. Meyermann has been on fire of late. She registered 21 kills and a .421 hitting percentage against William Penn. Freshman Sara Vance tallied 15 kills, while Kim Humpal racked up 13 kills, Beth Deutmeyer recorded 10 kills, and Kristy Hinrichs added 8 kills.
Setter Keri Vance handed out 58 assists on the night. The defense was led by Meyermann with 17 digs, while Keri Vance added 16, Sara Vance 12, and Dani Coppin registered 10 digs. Humpal was huge at the net with 5 assisted blocks for the Peacocks.
The Peacocks will travel to St. Paul, Minnesota next Tuesday night to face the reigning Division II National Champion Golden Bears of Concordia University, St. Paul in the team's NSIC opener. The two teams will turn around and play each other again on Friday night, Sept. 19, in Fayette, Iowa. Game time is 7:00 p.m. for both matches.
