CANYON, Texas – The Lady Buffs continue their impressive early-season showing at the BritKare Lady Buff Classic as they swept Fort Lewis, 25-22, 25-16, and 25-18.
“Fort Lewis has a nice right side attack and are aggressive with their serves,” said Lady Buffs’ head coach Tony Graystone. “We did a good job of slowing down their offense, and all in all, I’m very happy. We played fast and all of our hitters hit high percentages. The more we play, the better we’ll get.”
For the third consecutive match, Laura Prinsen and Natalie Johnson have led the team in kills with Prinsen recording 11 and Johnson tallying 10. Freshman Lauren Purdy contributed offensively with two service aces. The Lady Buffs’ averaged .349 in hitting percentage, with three players averaging better than 40 percent.
The BritKare Lady Buff Classic continues through tomorrow with action beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Lady Buffs face Texas A&M International at 12:00 p.m. and Fort Hays State at 6:00 p.m.
