CANYON, Texas – The Lady Buffs left no doubt about their goal for this season, sweeping their second opponent in the BritKare Lady Buff Classic, UT-Permian Basin three games to none. The Lady Buffs swept the Falcons 25-11, 19-25, and 26-24.
Freshman Lauren Purdy proved that she fits right in with the Lady Buffs, leading the team in block assists with four, racking up seven kills for the game, and serving up two service aces. Junior Natalie Johnson once again led the team in kills with 10 and Laura Prinsen followed closely behind with nine. Junior setter Katie Rickwartz led the team in service aces with three.
“I thought we did a good job against UTPB,” said Lady Buff head coach Tony Graystone. “All of our hitters hit high percentages and we were able to run three different front row lineups in three different games. UTPB definitely got better and better and were really competitive in the third game. We struggled through it, but we were still able to finish the game.”
