Garden City, N.Y. - Adelphi University Athletic Director Robert E. Hartwell announced the resignation of head women's volleyball coach Joe Chojnacki , effective immediately. Chojnacki was with the volleyball program for six years, three as an assistant and three as head coach.
In his three seasons as head coach Chojnacki posted a record of 41-48. After going 8-17 in 2003, Chojnacki guided the Panthers to a record-setting 20-14 record and the squad's first-ever post-season appearance in his second year. The Panthers posted their first 20-win season, garnered their first regional ranking, and were runners-up in the ECAC Division II Tournament in 2004.
"We appreciate everything that Joe did to stabilize the volleyball program," Athletic Director Mr. Hartwell stated. "As a part-time coach, he did an outstanding job. We're going to miss him."
Chojnacki has left Adelphi to take an assistant coaching position with the Fordham University women's volleyball team. The Rams finished last season with a mark of 19-14 overall.
