Parra Named to CVU's Stellar Spiker Team

ATHENS, Ohio - Junior setter Savanah Parra (Temecula, Calif.) continues to receive postseason recognition after being named to the inaugural Collegiate Volleyball Update Stellar Spiker First Team.

The awards are given to players who exhibited excellence and balance and who had large impacts on the success of their respective teams. Two players from each position were chosen for the first and second teams while 42 players received honorable mention.

Parra finished second in the nation in assists per game with 14.69 per frame in leading a highly potent Ohio offense. She was among the nation's leaders in assists per game throughout the season and played a big part in the team hitting .289 for the season, 10th best in the nation. The nod marks the third time CVU has honored Parra this season as she was named CVU Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 29 and garnered National Setter of the Year Honorable Mention honors earlier this month.

Other first team members are Notre Dame's Lauren Brewster, Nebraska's Melissa Elmer, Arizona's Kim Glass, Ball State's Amanda McCormick, Princeton's Jenny McReynolds, Florida's Jane Collymore, Texas A&M's Laura Jones, Florida Atlantic's Kelly Paiva, Stanford's Kristin Richards, Louisville's Lena Ustymenko, Hawai'i's Victoria Prince and Washington's Sanja Tomasevic and Courtney Thompson.
