PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State University Head Coach Lisa Hart has signed Ksenia Googe and Liudmila Vasilieva to National Letters of Intent for the 2009-10 season, it was announced Thursday.
"We are thrilled to welcome Luda and Ksenia to our program and the Cougar family," WSU Head Coach Lisa Hart said. "Coach Burduli and I have been fortunate enough to get to know each player throughout the recruiting process and we know that they both will make an immediate contribution to our team. My trip to Moscow, Russia, sold me on the fact that both young women will serve as an asset to our program, the WSU athletic department and our community. Both Luda and Ksenia are exceptional students, athletes and young women of considerable character."
Ksenia Googe from Moscow, Russia has a career high ranking of No. 394 in the ITF work junior rankings. She reached the quarterfinals in two ITF tournaments and the round of 16 in four other tournaments. Googe also reached the semifinals in doubles at three ITF tournaments.
Liudmila Vasilieva a native of Yekaterinburg, Russia won both the singles and doubles ITF Samara Cup International Tournaments in June. Vasilieva reached the quarterfinals or better in several other ITF tournaments and has a career high ranking of No. 394 in the junior singles world rankings.
Ksenia and Liudmila are the first student athletes to sign a National Letters of Intent with WSU Tennis for the 2009-10 school year. Both will enroll at WSU for the 2009 fall semester.
