Bianca Aboubakare Battles 65th-Ranked Player in Three Sets

The Bears' sophomore puts up a strong fight, but drops both of her matches at the National Indoors

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - Brown sophomore Bianca Aboubakare (Orange, CA) put up a strong fight against two of the nation's top singles players at the National Indoors, but dropped both matches, getting eliminated on the second day of competition.

The tournament started off with Aboubakare facing fifth-seeded Marina Cossou of Cal in the Round of 32. Ranked seventh in the country, Cossou handed Aboubakare a 6-3, 6-3 loss, as Abouabakare moved into the consolation bracket.

There she faced a teammate of Cossou's, 65th-ranked Bojana Bobusic. After dropping the first set, 6-1, Aboubakare fought back to tie the match at one set a piece with a 6-3 victory in the second set. Aboubakare gave everything she had in the decisive set, but fell, 7-6 (4).
