Adelphi Women's Tennis Sweeps ECC Honors

The Panthers are named Player and Rookie of the Week


This is Smiths first Ecc kudos as a Panther

Central Islip, NY - Sophomore Alda Ribeiro and freshman Carolyn Smith both picked up East Coast Conference (ECC) weekly accolades as named by the conference, September 8. Ribeiro was named ECC Player of the Week, while teammate Smith was named ECC Rookie of the Week. This is both player's first ECC honors this season.

Ribeiro continued to remain unbeaten in the number one singles, with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Georgian Court's Brittany Aimone, pushing her overall record to 2-0. Ribeiro also stands at 2-0 in number one doubles with a 8-2 victory over Georgian Court's Aimone and Caitlyn Lawrence.

Smith opened up her second week in a Panther jersey with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Georgian Court's Caitlyn Lawrence in the number two singles slot. Smith remains unbeaten with a 2-0 overall record.

The Panthers will resume tennis action when they travel to Oakdale, New York, to take on Dowling College on September 12, at 3:30 p.m.
