Women's Tennis Falls to Manhattan 5-0
Amberg and Price pick up doubles win

TRUMBULL, Conn. -- The Fairfield University women's tennis team fell to Manhattan College, 5-0, during a late-night tennis match at the Tennis Center of Trumbull. With the loss, Fairfield falls to 7-8 on the season and 1-3 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) while Manhattan improves to 2-11 and 1-3 in the conference.
Fairfield's lone victory on the night came at No. 3 doubles as junior Courtney Price (Meriden, Conn.) and freshman Gretchen Amberg (Manasquan, N.J.) teamed up to defeat Patrice Reiley and Lindsay Spagnola, 8-2.
The two teams played just four singles matches on the night. At No.1 singles, freshman Paulina Rys (Forest Hills, N.Y.) fell to Jennifer Fowler, 6-4, 6-1. At No. 2 singles, sophomore Lauren Bonanno (Bradenton, Fla.) was edged by Lindsey Keeler, 6-3, 6-1. At No. 3 singles, senior Alexis Accomando (Lilitz, Pa.) fell to Casey Conklin, 6-2, 6-2. At No. 4 singles, sophomore Gabriela Davila (Guaybano, Puerto Rico) was defeated by Morgan MacTaggert, 7-6(6), 6-2.
At No. 1 doubles, Fowler and MacTaggert edged out Rys and Davila, 9-8(6). At the second spot, Keeler and Conklin defeated Accomando and Bonanno, 8-4.
Fairfield returns to action on April 9 as the Stags host Providence at 1:30 p.m.
