Spokane, Wash. - Aglaya Kokurina posted her 10th singles victory of the spring Friday as the Gonzaga University women's tennis team downed Weber State University 6-1 at the Spokane Racquet Club.
Kokurina, who is now 10-6 in spring play, earned a straight-set 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 1 over Weber State's (3-10) Gaberiela Venditto at No. 1. Gonzaga's (5-11) Emily Anderson opened singles play with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 2 over Inasile Pienaar. Rika Mehndiratta earned another straight-set win at No. 3, downing Ashley Schapper 6-4, 6-2. At No. 4, Clare Dodge continued the Zags' winning ways, posting a 6-3, 6-4 win over Greyce Farias. Courtney Lau wrapped up singles victories for GU with a 6-2, 6-7, 1-0 (8) victory at No. 6 over Kelli Lindley. Weber State earned its lone point of the day with a 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (2) Keya Adamson victory over Danielle Farmer at No. 5
The Bulldogs jumped out to the early 1-0 edge with a sweep of the three doubles matches. At No. 1, Anderson and Kokurina defeated Pienaar and Schapper 8-2, while Farmer and Mehndiratta combined to defeat Venditto and Adamson 8-4 at No. 2 .Rounding out doubles play, at No. 3, Sydney Lederhouse and Lau posted a 8-2 victory over Farias and Lindley.
The Zags will return to the courts Monday, as they host UC Santa Cruz at the Spokane Racquet Club at 9 a.m.
