Miami University's women's tennis team heads to Huntington, W. Va., to take on the Marshall University Thundering Herd in a 1 p.m. match on Saturday, Feb. 23.
The RedHawks are currently on six-match winning streak and own a 6-1 record this season. In its last outing, Miami picked up its fifth 7-0 win of the season last Sunday against Xavier. The match started off well for Miami when sophomore Brintney Larson and freshman Cara Wald won No. 1 doubles and senior Kelly Douple and freshman Megan Martzolf won No. 2 doubles. The RedHawks then swept through singles action to produce the 7-0 win.
The previous week, Miami recorded another one of its 7-0 wins against the Eastern Kentucky University Colonels. Again, the RedHawks dominated in doubles play. Larson and Wald won No. 1 doubles. Martzolf and freshman Anastasia Dracheva won No. 2 doubles and senior Leda Pesatova and freshman Sydnee Bridger captured the win in No. 3 doubles.
Marshall enters Saturday's match on a four-match win streak, owning an 8-2 record on the season. The Thundering Herd is ranked No. 55 nationally, while the doubles team of Kellie Schmitt and Karolina Soor ranked ninth in the latest rankings.
Following the match with the Thundering Herd, the RedHawks will travel to Richmond, Va., to compete against the Virginia Commonwealth University Rams on Thursday, Feb. 28. The match begins at 2 p.m.
