Miami Softball Team Opens Fall Season on Sunday With Twinbill

RedHawks Host Dayton and Wright State

Sept. 14, 2007

OXFORD, Ohio - - Under the guidance of second-year head coach Kelly Kovach Schoenly, the Miami University softball team opens its six-game fall schedule Sunday (Sept. 16) with a pair of contests at the Miami Softball Field. The Redhawks take on Dayton at 2 p.m. before challenging Wright State at 4 p.m.

Miami returns 14 letterwinners from last year's squad that won 12 of its final 16 games and doubled its Mid-American Conference (MAC) win total from the 2006 season. The RedHawks posted a 26-35-1 overall record and a 14-8 conference mark in 2007. Kovach Schoenly's 26-game win total was the most for a first-year head coach in program history.

In addition to Sunday's double-header, the RedHawks host Wright State (12 p.m.) and Kent State (2 p.m.) next Sunday (Sept. 22). Miami closes the fall season with two games at the Ohio Collegiate Charity Classic in Columbus Oct. 7. The RedHawks play Wright State (12 p.m.) and Kent State (2 p.m.) to wrap up the autumn slate.
