Sept. 13, 2006

DAYTON, Ohio - University of Dayton softball head coach Jodi Eickemeyer announced today that Tiffany Ward is joining the staff as an assistant coach for the Flyers.

The former UD softball player is making her move from the playing field to the sidelines as she joins the Flyers staff. Ward is no stranger to Flyer softball. She served as a volunteer assistant coach for the team for the past two seasons.

"Tiffany is familiar with the team and the university and will be able to bring a lot to the table both offensively and defensively," said Eickemeyer. "She has done an excellent job transitioning from player to coach and will be a huge asset to our team," she added.

The 25-year-old played two seasons for the Flyers after transferring from Tiffin University. She had 49 hits including 10 doubles, three triples, four home runs and 35 RBI in a Flyer uniform during the 2002 and 2004 seasons. In her first season at UD in 2002, she played in 40 games and led the Flyers in RBI and times hit-by-pitch and tied for the team lead in triples. She was also second on the team with seven doubles. After missing the 2003 season, Ward returned in 2004 to drive in 16 runs while scoring five times in 44 games played.

A native of Tipp City, Ohio she earned her B.S. degree in Sports Management at UD in 2004.
