Tiger Softball Player Captures ASA Under 23 Title with Virginia Legends Squad

Tiger Centerfielder Showcases Skills in Summer Ball

Columbia, Mo. -Big 12 Softball Freshman of the Year Rhea Taylor (Buford, Ga.) helped her Virginia Legends summer squad to an Amateur Softball Association under 23 national title on July 20th. Playing at the Auburn Softball Complex in Auburn, Ala., Taylor and her teammates went 7-2 on the week, winning three games on July 20th on their way to a team title.

"Rhea was a great help to our team with her hitting and play in centerfield," Virginia Legends Head Coach Joe Woolsey said.

Taylor started in centerfield in all of the Virginia Legends' games. In nine starts, Taylor managed a .357 average with 10 hits in 28 at bats. Missouri's single season stolen bases record holder, Taylor was 2-2 on stolen bases in her games at the Auburn Softball Complex.

One of 15 members on the Virginia Legends team, Taylor was the lone Big 12 Conference representative and played alongside nine Southeast Conference players.
