MIDLAND, Mich. -
The Wayne State softball team scored five runs in the top of the fifth to break a 2-2 tie and defeat Grand Valley State, 7-2, in Friday's first round action of the 2005 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament held at Midland's Emerson Park. Freshman Robyn Haig hit a two-run homer in the first and senior Autumn Batyik started the fifth inning rally as sophomore pitcher Sarah Ytsma picked up the win. The sixth-seeded Warriors will face No. 2 seed Ferris State, who beat Saginaw Valley 5-4 in 10 innings, Friday afternoon at 3:00 pm.
