Game Two Box Score

Kim Norman smashed two home runs and earned a victory on the mound for the Quinnipiac softball team in a doubleheader sweep of Siena on Thursday afternoon in Loudonville, N.Y. The Bobcats (16-24), who have won five out of their last six, used a three-run fifth in an 8-7 comeback win in game one, while Jessica Skaare limited the Saints to five hits in a complete-game 4-1 win in the nightcap.

The Bobcats hit four homers and 14 hits on the day in the two victories, including home runs from Brandi Simon and Sammi Allendorfer. Quinnipiac has now scored 22 runs in its last three games.

In game one, Charron Letarte's run-scoring double in the fifth scored Simon to give the Bobcats an 8-7 lead. Simon reached on error that allowed Allendorfer, who singled, and Jill Viglione, who also reached on an error to score.

Allendorfer went 2-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBIs in the opener. Alyssa Mansolf and Jenna Henry also had two hits in the contest for Quinnipiac.

Norman (6-4) went the first four innings and allowed seven runs. Kristin Sheriff pitched three scoreless innings and picked up her team-leading fourth save of the season.

In the nightcap, Norman gave the Bobcats a first-inning lead after she drilled a two-out, two-run homer to center that scored Viglione to give Quinnipiac a 2-0 edge.

Skaare (6-9), the reigning Northeast Conference Pitcher of the Week, allowed only two hits over the first five innings and stranded 13 Saint baserunners in the game. She surrendered one run, a bases-loaded walk in the seventh on the way to victory.

The Bobcats added a run in the third on an Allendorfer infield single, while Simon smashed a solo shot, her second homer in three games, in the seventh.

Quinnipiac returns to action on Saturday for their final home date of the season. The Bobcats host Cornell for a doubleheader that begins at 12 p.m. in Hamden.
