Potter doubled to lead off the inning and Reuter singled to right field to send her across the plate. Whitley singled through the right side to send home Reuter and scored on a fielding error.

Although the Knights added another run when Potter sent a long ball over the left centerfield fence in the fifth inning, RU scored three runs in the bottom of the inning to regain the lead with a 5-4 edge.

The Knights again responded with a run in the top of the sixth inning, but Rutgers took the lead for good with a two-run sixth inning and then blanked FDU in the top of the seventh to seal the win.
