OXFORD - The Miami softball team will close out the home portion of its 2008 schedule this weekend, as the RedHawks welcome Central Michigan and Eastern Michigan to town for two games a piece.

The Red and White will take on the Chippewas of CMU in a doubleheader on Friday, with the first game slated for a 1 p.m. start time.  Miami will then face the Eastern Michigan Eagles, with games set for 5 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday. 

 

Prior to the beginning of Sunday's contest, the graduating class of 2008 will be honored during an on-field ceremony. Fans are encouraged to come out and recognize the accomplishments of the five seniors, both on and off the field.

 

This weekend is also Cancer Awareness Weekend at the Miami Softball Field, where the softball team, along with the Miami Spirit Teams, will promote cancer awareness at each game of the weekend series.

The Softball team will focus on the prevention of skin cancer as information and free samples will be available to those in attendance. 

Miami Softball vs. Eastern Michigan Saturday, April 26th - 5:00 P.M.

The Miami University Spirit Teams joined forces to host the "Miami Spirit 5K" to fight Ovarian Cancer.  All proceeds will be donated to the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance.  Race begins at 3:00 P.M. on the front lawn of Millett Hall and finishes at the Miami Softball Stadium.  Miami Softball alumni will also be in attendance at Saturday's game for Alumni Weekend.

Breast Cancer has had an unfortunate impact on the Miami Softball Team.  Zeta Tau Alpha, as part of their philanthropy, will be teaming up with Miami University Athletics to promote awareness about breast cancer.  Support the fight against breast cancer and support the Miami Softball Team!
