ATHENS, Ga. -- The No. 12-ranked Georgia Bulldogs (43-10) earned a doubleheader sweep over Georgia Southern (21-26) on Wednesday at the UGA Soccer/Softball Complex.
Michelle Green (20-3) and Katie Griffith paced Georgia to an 8-0 win in the first game of the twinbill after combining for a one-hit shutout. Kim Wendland launched her 12th home run of the season with a solo blast in the first inning. Courtney Knight went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Kasi Carroll (13-3) recorded a career-high 12 strikeouts en route to leading the Bulldogs to a 3-1 win in the nightcap. Jessica Doucette and Knight each recorded two hits.
Wendland got the Bulldogs started in the first inning of game one after ripping a two-out solo home run down the right field line. The Bulldogs added a run after Megan McAllister scored from third base on an error.
Georgia extended its lead to 4-0 in the second inning. Jodi Dyer drew a one-out walk and advanced to second base on Katie Lewis' sacrifice bunt.
Knight scored Dyer on an RBI triple to right center field. Knight would later score from third base on a failed pickoff attempt that ended up in right field.

The Bulldogs erupted for four runs in the third inning to extend their lead to 8-0. Green, Doucette, and Jade Jarvis each recorded RBI hits as the Bulldogs batted around.
Katie Griffith relieved Green in the fourth inning and tossed two scoreless frames, striking out three.
A.J. Street (9-10) took the loss in game one for the Eagles after scattering five earned runs and five hits in 2.1 innings of work.
The Bulldogs took a 3-0 lead in the second inning of game two after loading the bases with one out. Wendland scored Dyer from third on a fielder's choice to account for the first run of the frame. Lewis and Kelsey Todd would later score on an error by Eagle shortstop Maria Laurato.
Gina Sterchi's RBI double in the seventh inning cut the Georgia lead to 3-1.
Logan Free (9-9) took the loss in the nightcap after allowing one earned run and nine hits.
Georgia returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Knoxville to take on No. 9 Tennessee in a three-game series. Saturday's doubleheader will be broadcast live on CSS. First pitch slated for 1 p.m. EDT.
