Slippery Rock, Pa. - Melissa Lowrey led The Rock's hitting effort with a 3-for-4 performance in game one, but SRU could only muster one run against a stingy Lock Haven pitching staff as it dropped both ends of a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division doubleheader, 6-1 and 7-0 Friday afternoon.
With the two losses, The Rock remains two wins shy of breaking the single-season school record for victories, dropping to 22-14 overall, 6-8 in the PSAC-W.
Lock Haven improved to 28-6 overall, 13-1 in PSAC-W play.
Lowrey's single in the bottom of the fifth induced a Lock Haven error, which scored Andrea Murdock for The Rock's only run of the afternoon.
At the time, Murdock's run tied the game at one, but four runs in the sixth and one in the seventh put SRU away.
Murdock had the only other Rock multi-hit game with a 2-for-4 effort in game one.
The Rock's single-season record holder for wins, Brittany Hahn (12-4) pitched valiantly in a losing effort, firing a complete-game while surrendering six earned runs and one walk while striking out two.
Jessica Vrabel's pinch-hit single win the top of the fifth was SRU's only hit in game two and sparked its only rally when it stranded the bases loaded in that inning.
Kalee LoFaso (1-2) took the loss surrendering all seven Lock Haven runs. Hahn pitched the final 1 1/3 innings, giving up just two hits.
The Rock will look to even its PSAC-West record when it travels to Indiana U. of Pa. for a 1 p.m. doubleheader Saturday. IUP handed Lock Haven its only PSAC-W loss earlier in the season, and The Rock split with the Indians, dropping game one 11-5 and winning game two 10-6 back on April 1.
