WSU Extends Winning Streak To Three Games

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Wayne State University softball team (13-14) recorded a 5-2 non-conference win at Ferris State (13-12) Tuesday afternoon in the first game of a doubleheader.

The Warriors took a 2-0 lead in the top of third. Sarah Kish had a leadoff double and moved to third on an Anna Schneider single. After a groundout advanced Schneider to second and a strikeout, Becky Quinn delivered a two-run double down the left field line.

The Bulldogs scored once in the fourth on a triple by Lindsay Riskovitch and an RBI single by Katie Kraai.

FSU tied the game in the bottom of the sixth on a home run by Laura Crower.

In the top of the seventh, Kish had a one-out double and Schneider walked. Sue Verbeem doubled scoring Kish and moving pinch-runner Laura Guzman to third. Following a groundout, Quinn had a two-run single to right.

Sarah Ytsma (6-7) garnered the victory by allowing two earned runs in seven innings with six strikeouts and only two walks. Rachel Chartier (6-7) suffered the loss allowing nine hits and five earned runs.

Quinn, Kish and Schneider each had two hits with Quinn driving in a WSU season-high four runs.
