CAMBRIDGE, Mass.- Harvard's Shelly Madick (Fr., Tarzana, Calif.) has been named the Ivy League Rookie and Co-Pitcher of the Week for the week ending April 10. Lauren Stefanchik (Sr., Berkeley Heights, N.J.) was named to the weekly Ivy League honor roll. The Crimson went 7-1 last week, including a 3-1 mark in Ivy play to improve to 10-10 overall. Harvard will be at Boston College Tuesday, and Boston University Thursday before heading to Princeton and Penn for a pair of weekend Ivy League doubleheaders.
Madick went a perfect 4-0 with a 0.28 ERA, limiting opponents to 14 hits and one earned run in 25.1 innings, striking out 36 batters. She recorded a season-high 13 strikeouts in her Ivy debut, throwing a complete game two-hitter to lift Harvard to a 3-1 win over Brown. Madick tossed a complete game five-hitter with six strikeouts to complete a perfect Ivy weekend with a 4-0 win over Yale. She gave up seven hits, no earned runs and struck out 19 batters in her first two League games. Earlier in the week, Madick tossed a five-hitter, striking out 12 batters and giving up one earned run in a 4-1 win over Rhode Island. She threw the final 4.1innings of the 4-1 win over Quinnipiac, scattering two hits and five strikeouts in the win.
Stefanchik hit .524 in helping Harvard to a 7-1 week, including a 3-1 mark in Ivy League games. She went 11-for-21 with nine runs scores and was a perfect 6-for-6 in stolen bases. Stefanchik went 4-for-6 with three runs scored in a two-game sweep over Rhode Island. She followed that by going 3-for-3 with three runs scored and a pair of stolen bases vs. Quinnipiac. Stefanchik finished 2-for-7 with two runs scored and a stolen base in the two wins over Brown. She closed out the weekend with a 2-for-5 effort with a stolen base in a split with Yale. Stefanchik leads the team in with a .441 batting average including a perfect 9-for-9 in stolen bases.
