Phipps and Arreola Named First Team All-Conference

River Forest, IL - The Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) announced the 2008 Women's Soccer All-Conference Teams with Dominican University's Liz Phipps (Bloomington, IL) and Nallely Arreola (Waukegan, IL) garnering NAC All-Conference First Team honors. The freshman duo helped guide the Stars to the semifinals of the NAC Tournament, posting an overall record of 13-6-2 and going 10-2-0 in conference play.

Arreola was the Stars' team-leader in points as she logged nine goals and nine assists for a total of 27 points while appearing in all 21 games for Dominican. In the NAC, Arreola's nine assists ranked in the top ten in the conference. In 12 NAC contests, Arreola logged seven goals and seven assists, including a season-best five-point effort as she logged two goals and an assist in a 4-0 win over Wisconsin Lutheran College on September 23.

Phipps, a defender for much of the season, anchored the Stars back line that posted a NAC-best 13 shutouts and ranked third in the conference with a 1.09 goals against average. In addition, the 5'4" Bloomington native tallied four goals and two assists on the season, including scoring a pair of goals in a 4-1 come from behind win over MSOE on October 18.

Joining Phipps and Arreola in the postseason honors were teammates Karly Kuranda (St. Charles, IL), Jacqui Lani (Green Bay, WI), Kelly Rounce (Downers Grove, IL) and Dulce Melo (Chicago, IL). Kuranda, the Stars' leader with 11 assists on the season, earned All-NAC Second Team honors while Lani, Melo and Rounce all received honorable mention for the all-conference teams. Arreola, Kuranda, Phipps and Rounce, all true freshman, also landed on the conference's 2008 All-Freshman Team.
