Junior forward Sofia Hoflin (Ostersund, Sweden) scored in the 80th minute to lift the University of Bridgeport over fifth-ranked C.W. Post, 1-0, Sunday afternoon in the second round of the NCAA women's soccer northeast regional on Robert Blitz Field.
Bridgeport improves to 18-4-1, setting a new program record in season win totals. The loss ends C.W. Post's season with an overall record of 17-3-1.
"It was a pretty good result," said Bridgeport head coach Magnus Nilerud.  "I thought the first half we had a lot of chances and in the second half (C.W. Post) came back and pounded us pretty good."
Hoflin's 15th goal of the season was a header into the lower left corner on a long cross pass from junior defender Emma Woolley (Sheffield, England) with freshman defender Danielle Weir also assisting on the play.
"I crossed the ball over from the right side and Sofia went and headed it in," said Woolley. "We've done it so many times in training that it was bound to happen in a game."

Bridgeport came close to scoring its first goal in the 67th minute when Woolley kicked a hard shot toward the goal but was deflected away on a defensive save from sophomore forward Qaroline Nahl (Kumla, Sweden).
Bridgeport had a 13-12 margin in shots while the Pioneers had a 7-6 advantage in corner kicks in the game.
Hoflin led the Purple Knights with five shots, including two on goal while Woolley tallied three shots. Junior goalkeeper Elina Yletyinen (Lulea, Sweden) made four shots to record her sixth shutout of the season.
Sophomore midfielder Ivana Babic (Haninge, Sweden) led the Pioneers with four shots, including three on goal. Freshman goalkeeper Allie Weiser (Grand Island, N.Y.) made one stop in goal.
