Hopkins Heads To Round Two

The Blue Jays defeated Meredith, 1-0, and improved to 17-0-4.

BALTIMORE, MD - Freshman Erica Suter (Ellicott City, MD/River Hill) scored the game-winner to advance the Johns Hopkins women's soccer team to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Blue Jays defeated Meredith, 1-0, for the second time this season. Meredith moves to 17-5-0 to end its season, while Hopkins earned its 16th shutout to improve to 17-0-4.

Junior Caitlin Moore (Landisville, PA.Hempfield) crossed the ball in front of the goal to Suter to put Hopkins on the board. Suter knocked in the game-winner in the 78th minute to give Hopkins an NCAA first round victory. The rookie notched her 12th goal of the season, moving into tie for fifth place all-time in single season goals in the JHU record book.

Junior goalkeeper Karen Guszkowski (Sayreville, NJ/Cardinal McCarrick) earned her 12th shutout of the season, making two saves.

Hopkins advances to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the second time in three years and will face the winner of the Richard Stockton/Virginia Wesleyan match. The second round match will begin at 6 p.m. at Homewood Field on Sunday, November 16. The gates will open at 5 p.m. Tickets will be $6 for adults, $5 for students and $3 for children under 12.
