SMU Falls to Texas A&M, 4-2, in NCAA Women's Soccer Second Round Action

College Station, Texas - The SMU women's soccer team's run to the 2005 College Cup was stopped Sunday afternoon as the ninth-ranked Texas A&M Aggies defeated the Mustangs by the score of 4-2 in College Station. SMU closes out the 2005 campaign with a 15-5-2 record while A&M improves to 18-3-2 and advances to the NCAA Sweet 16.

At the 9:41 mark in the first half, the Aggies got on the scoreboard first as Ashley Pistorius got the first of her three goals with a head off a deflection. SMU knotted the game at 1-1 when junior Olivia O'Rear scored off a centering pass from teammate Kimber Bailey at the 23:24 mark. Pistorius scored again at the 34th minute off a free kick deflection. SMU went into intermission down, 2-1.

In the second half, Pistorius connected on a 20-yard free kick at the 64:06 mark, giving TAMU a 3-1 lead. Laura Probst made the score 4-1 on a rebounded shot in the box at the 86:37 mark. SMU countered with an Allison Brill goal at the 88:51 mark, making the final score, 4-2, in favor of Texas A&M.
