Florida State Heads North To Face Virginia

The Seminoles are in search of their first win over the Cavaliers

Tallahassee, Fla. - After splitting a pair of ACC home games last week, Florida State (6-3-1, 1-1-0 ACC) will head north to face Virginia (7-1-2, 1-0-1 ACC) and Virginia Tech (4-4-1, 0-2-1 ACC) on Thursday and Sunday, respectively. The Seminoles are right in the middle of the pack in the conference standings currently tied for fifth with North Carolina and Duke with three points. FSU is in search of its first-ever victory against the Cavaliers (0-13-2), while the Seminoles will look to stay undefeated against the Hokies (4-0-0).

Junior Mami Yamaguchi continues to lead the nation in points per game (3.40) as well as goals per game (1.40) in 2007. The Tokyo, Japan native has a point in all 10 games this year. Freshman Sanna Talonen returns to the team after playing with the Finnish National Team a week ago. She helped lead her native country to a pair of wins over Scotland, 1-0 and 4-1. Talonen has scored in five of her eight games with the Seminoles and in three of her last four. She has tallied a pair of multi-goal games this season.

Florida State has the highest scoring offense in the nation averaging 4.40 points per game. The Seminoles have scored a goal in 16 straight games dating back to last year's ACC Championship final against North Carolina in Cary, N.C.
