Soccer to Participate in Time Warner Movies in the Park Series

Free Clinic offered Tuesday night at San Marcos Plaza


Head Coach Kat Conner will offer demonstrations on ball skills and drills Tuesday night as part of the Summer Movies in the Park series.

SAN MARCOS - The Texas State Women's Soccer staff will host a free soccer clinic Tuesday night at the San Marcos Plaza. The event is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. and will be held in conjunction with San Marcos Parks and Recreations, Time Warner Cable and the San Marcos Daily Record's Summer Movie in the Park series.

"This is a great opportunity for the Texas State soccer program to reach out and connect with the San Marcos community," said head coach Kat Conner. "We are very glad to be a part of the outreach and hope to help out in future endeavors as well."

The coaches will demonstrate a number of drills and ball skill exercises before the screening of "Kicking and Screaming" at 8:30 p.m. Along with the demonstrations, the Texas State Athletic Department will have representative available to assist with the 2008 Soccer season ticket purchases and registration will be available for the Bobcat Kids Club, as well. Members of the 2008 soccer team will also be present to sign autographs and distribute schedule cards and posters.

A raffle for all children in 8th grade or below will be held for a signed Texas State soccer jersey, soccer ball, and a package of four tickets to the Bobcats match against Baylor Sept. 27at the Bobcat Soccer Complex.

San Marcos Plaza is located on the corner of Hopkins and CM Allen Parkway.
