SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Soccerbuzz.com has ranked the incoming 2008 University of San Diego women's soccer recruiting class 20th best in the nation.
Signing National Letters of Intent with the Toreros are Stephanie Ochs (San Diego, CA/Patrick Henry HS), Danielle Russell (Long Beach, CA/Wilson HS), Maggie McGuire (Anchorage, AL/West Anchorage HS), Courtney Parsons (Rohnert Park, CA/Ursuline HS), Natalie Garcia (Escondido, CA/San Pasqual HS), Alexis Doel (Ladera Ranch, CA/Alisa Niguel HS) and Elissa Magracia (Chula Visat, CA/Bonia Vista HS). Also joining the Toreros will be Jacqueline Zinke, a transfer from the University of Arizona.
With this incoming recruiting class, as well as the return of All-WCC performers, Amy Epsten, Brittany Cameron and Natalie Vinti, the Toreros are gearing up for another run at the West Coast Conference championship and a return to the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive season.
This past season, head coach Ada Greenwood guided the Toreros to a program-best 15-3-3 overall record, a 5-1-1 mark in the WCC, good for a second place finish, and a top-10 ranking for the first time in program history. The Toreros posted wins over No. 5 Santa Clara and No. 19 Wake Forest as well as battling to a tie with No. 6 UCLA.
The Toreros women's soccer program has advanced to the NCAA tournament in seven of the past nine seasons and has reached the second round of the tournament three times (1996, 1999 and 2004). USD has also put together winning campaigns in the last 10 consecutive seasons with an impressive combined record of 120-69-11.
