Washington, D.C. - Georgetown University women's soccer head coach Dave Nolan announced today the signing of seven recruits to the class of 2011. Midfielders Caitlin Durkee (St Paul, Minn./Como Park), Amy Speck (Rockville Center N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy), Lauren Von der Ahe (La Canada, Calif./Flintridge Prep) and Ingrid Wells (Upper Montclair, N.J./Montclair), defenders Michaela Buonomo (Churchville, Pa./Council Rock South) and Courtney Kent (Laguna Niguel, Calif./St. Margaret's) and goalkeeper Jackie DesJardin (Sunnyvale, Calif./Archbishop Mitty) have signed National-Letters-of-Intent and will play for the Hoyas starting in the fall of 2007.

"This 2007 class is definitely one of the strongest ever assembled here at Georgetown University," said Coach Nolan. "Each and every student-athlete has the ability to contribute right away and I fully expect them to do so. In addition to adding key players to key positions we also landed some very versatile players who can perform well in various spots. I am excited about what they add to our program on the field, off the field, and in the classroom."

Ingrid Wells, (Upper Montclair, N.J./Montclair)

Wells is regarded as one of the top 50 incoming freshman in the nation by SoccerBuzz. She is a past member of the U.S. National Pool, a three-time Region One ODP team member and a member of the N.J. ODP Program. An NSCAA All-American, Wells enjoyed an exceptional career at Montclair High School where she was named New Jersey Star Ledger High School Player of the Year and First Team All-State. Currently, Wells is a member of the U18 Parsippany Gazelles, a very successful club team program, and one of the leading teams on the East Coast.

"Ingrid is a pure midfield general who possesses wonderful technical ability and a fantastic soccer brain," said Nolan. "She plays both sides of the ball very well and is so driven and competitive that I expect her to make an immediate impact in our program both on and off the field. I am very excited about her playing at Georgetown for the next four years."

Michaela Buonomo, (Churchville, Pa/Council Rock South)

Buonomo is a member of the Eastern Pennsylvania ODP Program. Her club team, the Pennsylvania Strikers is one of the top teams in the country. Buonomo had a stellar career at Council Rock South High School where she earned First Team All-League and Team MVP honors last season.

"Micaela is an outstanding central defender, great in the air, tough in the tackle and a born leader," said Nolan. "She is extremely competitive and plays with great courage. I expect her to have a strong four-year career at Georgetown leading our backline. We are very happy to have her in our program."

Amy Speck, (Rockville Center, N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy)

Speck is regarded as one of the top 125 incoming freshman by SoccerBuzz. A two-time member of the Region One ODP Team and a four-time member of the Eastern New York ODP program, she helped Eastern New York win a National ODP Championship last year. As a student at Sacred Heart Academy, she had an exceptional high school soccer career, where she helped lead her team to a State Championship this year and was honored as an All-State selection. She currently plays on the Massapequa Rascals, one of the leading club teams in the Northeast.

"Amy is a talented player with good technical skills and athleticism," said Nolan. She is a very clever soccer player with strong attacking instincts. Her versatility will ensure she should have an impact at Georgetown for the next four years. She is a great addition to our program."

Caitlin Durkee, (St. Paul, Minn./Como Park)Courtney Kent, (Laguna Niguel, Calif./St. Margaret's)

Kent is a member of the Southern California Blues Soccer Club, one of the premier clubs in California and the nation. She enjoyed a successful career at St. Margaret's Episcopal High School as she captained them to a C.I.F Championship this year and was named All-League and All-Conference.

"Courtney is an aggressive defender who is exceptional in the air," said Nolan. A great athlete, she brings a lot of intangibles to the game. With her strong work ethic I expect her to compete with all our defenders right away and have a great career here at Georgetown."

Jackie DesJardin, (Sunnyvale, Calif./Archbishop Mitty)

DesJardin is a member of the De Anza Force and played at Archbishop Mitty, traditionally one the best soccer schools in the nation. She was a dual sport athlete at Archbishop Mitty where she also excelled in softball.

"Jackie is a very athletic goalkeeper with a good physical presence," said Nolan. With her strong work ethic she will compete with our goalkeepers for time in the net. She has a bright future here on the Hilltop."

Lauren Von der Ahe, (La Canada, Calif./Flintridge Prep)

Von der Ahe plays for the Barcelona FC club and also plays soccer at Flintridge Preparatory. She was honored as both an All-League and All-Conference selection for the past two seasons and also named as Female Athlete of the Year at Flintridge. Von der Ahe has been the top goal scorer on her team the past two years.

"Lauren is a very skillful player who I believe will be a huge surprise next year," said Nolan. She is a tremendous athlete with solid technical ability and in our environment should go on to have a good college career."
