Averbuch Named To Jewish Sports Review All-America Team

  • CHAPEL HILL, N.C.--Soccer Buzz National Player of the Year Yael Averbuch, a sophomore midfielder for the University of North Carolina's 2006 NCAA champion women's soccer squad, earned another national honor Monday when she was named a first-team All-America on the Jewish Sports Review's 2006 Women's College All-America Soccer Team for Division I.

    Averbuch was one of 12 players named to the first team which included three forwards, four midfielders, three defenders and two goalkeepers.

    Averbuch was a consensus first-team All-America choice this season as she finished the year as Carolina's second leading scorer with 39 points on 16 goals and seven assists. She previously earned first-team honors from Soccer Buzz, the NSCAA, Top Drawer Soccer and Soccer America.
