Women's Lax Named To IWLCA Academic Honor Squad

Simmons, Viola named to Academic Honor Roll

ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell women's lacrosse program earned a spot on the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Honor Squad list for posting a cumulative team grade point average of 3.0 or better. Additionally, senior Margaux Viola and junior Katherine Simmons were named to the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll.

The Big Red was among 96 NCAA teams (43 schools in Division I, 12 schools in Division II, and 41 schools in Division III) were named honor squads. Fellow Ivy schools Brown, Columbia, Dartmouth, Harvard, Penn, Princeton and Yale also joined the list, as the Ancient Eight comprised nearly 20 percent of all Division I schools on the list. Cornell posted a team cumulative GPA of 3.06 for the season.

Simmons (Human Development) and Viola (Applied Economics and Management) were among 410 individual student-athletes honored by the IWLCA for achievement both on the field and in the classroom.
