Staten Island, NY - Karen Rife has resigned her position as head women's lacrosse coach at Wagner College after one season, Director of Athletics Walt Hameline announced today.

Rife, who arrived at Wagner last summer following three seasons as the head coach at Bryant University in Rhode Island, has elected to return to Bryant as head coach. Rife compiled a 32-16 record in her three seasons at the helm of the Bulldogs prior to being named at Wagner. Last season, the Seahawks finished with a 3-15 record, giving her a career head coaching record of 35-31.

"I'd like to thank the Wagner College administration for their support and wish my former players all of the best," said Rife. "I think the future of women's lacrosse at Wagner is very bright. At this time, returning to Bryant is the right move for me both personally and professionally."

The Freeport, NY native began her collegiate coaching career as an assistant at the University of Massachusetts following an All-American playing career at Syracuse University.

"I'd like to thank Karen for her contributions to Wagner women's lacrosse and wish her the very best," said Hameline. "A search for her successor is underway and I am confident we will attract a terrific person to lead our program."
