Ashley Valentine (Friendship, Md.) of the Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team was named the NEC Rookie of the Week on Mar. 14. In the team's 16-15 overtime win over Harvard last Thursday, Valentine tallied four goals and an assist to lead the team in scoring with five points. She had a hat trick before halftime. Valentine currently leads the team in goals (six) and points (seven).
Valentine had a perfect shooting percentage against Harvard, scoring four goals on four shots. She also led the team in draw controls with six. Valentine and the Bobcats were the only team in the NEC to win a game this past week.
Quinnipiac (1-1) resumes play tomorrow afternoon when they welcome Boston College of the Atlantic Coast Conference at 3 p.m. on the new turf field. It will be the second match of the team's six-game homestand.
