DAVIS, Calif. - Six different Duck players scored six goals each as Oregon defeated UC Davis, 15-5, in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation women's lacrosse season opener Sunday at Aggie Stadium. Senior Katie McMahon led the Aggies with a game-high three goals.

Freshman Gina Hoffmire and sophomore Molly Lapolla rounded out the UC Davis offense with one goal each. Seniors Lindsay Killian, Therese Waldron and Jana Bradley, juniors Cara Mead and Casey Rector, and freshman Anna Swicklick each had two goals.

Senior goalkeeper Hilary Harkins posted 11 saves in the Aggie crease while counterpart Anna Poponyak matched that total for Oregon.

The Ducks took a quick lead to start the game, first on Jen May's goal in the opening minute then on a Lindsay Killian score in the fourth. The Aggies put themselves on the scoreboard at the 6:24 mark when Gina Hoffmire recovered a rebound and sent the putback into the net. However, UO extended its margin to 4-1 on goals by Swicklick and Mead soon after. The Ducks held a 6-3 lead at the halftime break.

The Aggies closed the gap to two goals early in the second period when McMahon's ground ball pick-up resulted in Lapolla's eight-meter score. But the Ducks responded with goals by Swicklick and Bradley to bump their lead to 8-4. McMahon completed her hat trick at the 39:05 mark, but the Aggies never approached any closer. May won the ensuing draw and Bradley hit her second goal less than a minute later to ignite a run of seven unanswered Oregon goals to finish the game.

Oregon finished with an 18-11 advantage in ground balls and outshot its host by a 34-21 margin, including 17-9 in the second half.

The Aggies return to action on Wednesday at defending MPSF champion Stanford.
