Huge Second Period Leads Cornell Over No. 10 Princeton

PRINCETON, N.J. (www.goprincetontigers.com)- Cornell scored five goals in the final 6:23 of the second period to overcome an early deficit and defeat the Princeton women's hockey team 7-4 on Friday night at Hobey baker Rink. Senior Sonja Novak scored twice for the Tigers in the loss.
Momentum shifted at that point, as Cornell scored the game's next six goals, five in a span of 6:12 late in the second period. Liz Zorn started the stretch at 13:37 and Amber Overguard made it a one-goal game 44 seconds later with a power-play goal from a shot on the point. Cornell tied the game on a tic-tac-toe passing play 42 seconds later that ended in a goal for Katie Bredice. Hayley Hughes made it 4-3 Cornell 1:03 later and Zorn capped the stretch with her second goal of the night with nine second left in the period.
Cornell extended the lead to 6-3 when Brianne Schmidt scored from in front at 6:55 of the third period.
