After having last weekend off, the No. 5 Wisconsin women's hockey team will put its four-game winning streak on the line when it travels to Columbus, Ohio this weekend to take on Ohio State. The Badgers and Buckeyes square off at 7:07 p.m. ET on Friday before closing out the series at 4:07 p.m. ET on Saturday.
Badger fans who can't make it Columbus this weekend will have the chance to follow the action through live game blogs on uwbadgers.com. Athletic Communications Assistant Adam Augustine will provide live coverage of all the goals, scoring chances and big saves from the OSU Ice Rink.
Links to access the gameday blog can be found on the women's hockey main page of uwbadgers.com just before the start of each game.
In its most recent action, Wisconsin posted its second straight weekend series sweep Jan. 4-5 at Minnesota State. UW won 4-1 on Friday night and 3-1 on Sunday afternoon to improve to 14-6-2 overall on the season and 10-4-2 in league play.
The Badgers are now just one point behind the second-place duo of Minnesota and St. Cloud State and eight points behind first-place Minnesota Duluth. However, Wisconsin has played two less conference games than either St. Cloud or UMD. UW will make up its two games in hand on St. Cloud this weekend as the Huskies take on Vermont in non-conference action.
Ohio State (10-9-3 overall, 7-8-3 WCHA) enters the series having taken only one point at St. Cloud last weekend. The Buckeyes tied the Huskies 2-2 last Friday before falling 5-4 last Saturday. Ohio State is just 3-4-1 in its last eight games and is allowing 3.5 goals per game during that stretch.
Earlier this season, Wisconsin claimed three of four points from Ohio State with a win and a tie at the Kohl Center. Junior Jessie Vetter made 12 saves to earn the shutout during a 4-0 win on Oct. 13 while freshman Mallory Deluce pulled the Badgers even midway through the third period to record the 2-2 tie on Oct. 14.
