The Ute gymnasts had a medal winning effort in the classroom, as well as at nationals.

A month after placing second at the 2008 NCAA Championships, the Utah gymnastics team came away with numerous academic awards. Seven Ute gymnasts were named NACGC/W Scholastic All-Americans: Kristina Baskett, Daria Bijak, Jamie Deetscreek, Katie Kivisto, Gael Mackie, Stephanie Neff and Ashley Postell. They also made the Dean's List, which requires a 3.5 GPA.

The team's combined GPA for the spring semester was a 3.5192 and all 13 Ute gymnasts recorded a 3.0 or better GPA to qualify for the Athletics Director's Honor Roll. Joining Baskett, Bijak, Deetscreek,Kivisto, Mackie, Neff and Postell on the Athletics Director's Honor Roll were Annie DiLuzio, Jessica Duke, Jacquelyn Johnson, Nina Kim, Beth Rizzo and Kyndal Robarts.
