Oregon State U. women's golf has rough first day

Corvallis, OR (UWIRE) -- The Oregon State women's golf team is in last place following day one of action at the 22nd Pac-10 Conference Women's Golf Championship on Monday.

The Beavers are currently in 10th place with a team score of 33-over-par, 317 heading into the second round of play, four shots behind ninth place Washington State.

Junior Martha Burkard and Senior Julianna Uhrik are both leading the way for Oregon State, putting up a first-round total of six-over, 77, heading into the second round of action in an individual tie for 31st place.

Sophomore Lauren Archer is in 40th place with a first-round total of nine-over-par 80. Senior Jessi Gebhardt finished off the first round four shots behind Archer with a total of 12-over-par 83 as she enters the second round in a tie for 44th.

Cara Freeman rounded out the scoring for the Beavers with a 14-over-par 85, landing in a tie for 46th.

UCLA is in the lead with an even-par score of 284, as the Bruins' Tiffany Joh and Sydnee Michaels are tied for first, carding tournament lows of 2-under 69 in round one.
