AMES, Iowa - Sabrina Danielson (Pleasant Hill, Iowa) and Tracy Stanford (Midland, Texas) have signed letters of intent to play golf at Iowa State next fall, head women's golf coach Julie Manning announced today.
Danielson, who attends Southeast Polk High School, is the fourth generation of her family to attend ISU. This past summer, she won the Iowa PGA Junior Championship and the U.S. Cellular Iowa Junior Tour Championship. She also took fourth in class 4A at the 2004 Iowa Girls State Golf Tournament, carding a 158. Danielson plans on studying business upon enrolling in classes at ISU next fall.
"We are very excited that Sabrina has decided to play at ISU," Manning said. "She brings tremendous work ethic and diligence and she has a competitive nature that we are always trying to bring to our program. Look for a great spring season from Sabrina because she still has her senior season yet in front of her."
Stanford is the first women's golf recruit from the state of Texas in Cyclone history. She hails from Robert E. Lee High School and is one of the top recruits in Texas.
"Tracy is a diamond in the rough as far as I am concerned," Manning said. "She is just coming into the game of golf in the last few years and already has remarkable swing mechanics. That being coupled with her determination, she will be a great asset to our program."
These signings complete the recruiting process for the 2004-05 season.
