(Fort Collins, CO) - USF women's golf opened the 2008-09 season Monday at the Ptarmigan/Ram Fall Classic hosted by Colorado State. With 36 holes in the books, The Dons are in eighth place at 589 (293, 296).

Playing in her first tournament in the Green and Gold after transferring from McNeese State, Tinna Johannsdottir sits in a share of 21st place at two-over 146 (72, 74), while juniors Danielle Cvitanov (73, 74) and Natasha Podmore (74, 73) are tied for 30th at 147.

Defending champion, California, is in position to repeat, firing a 19-under-par 557 (284, 273) to lead the 19-team field. Colorado sits within striking distance of the Golden Bears at 14-under 562 (283, 279). Louisville is at 570 (284, 286), San Jose State sits at 579 (287, 292) and Long Beach State rounds out the top-five teams at 580 (287, 293). Cal's Shannon Yocum and CU's Emily Childs are tied atop the individual leader board at 6-under, 138.
