Jennie Lee, So., Duke

Lee came out firing on the opening day of the U.S. Women's Open at Pine Needles. Firing the lowest collegiate round of the day, Duke's Lee finished her opening round with an even-par 71 and is currently tied for 12th, setting the tone for the rest of the collegiate golfers in the field.

Amanda Blumenherst, So., Duke

Lee's classmate only completed 14 holes on Thursday, but matched her fellow Blue Devil otherwise.  Due to resume her round early Friday morning, Blumenhurst sat tied with Lee and 11 other golfers (including Annika Sorenstam) at even par when first round play was suspended.

Paola Moreno, Jr., USC

For USC's Paola Moreno, it's a good thing that tomorrow is another day, because her U.S. Open got off to a rough start on Thursday.  Through nine holes, Moreno shot five over par and sits tied for 105th, and will look to improve matters on Friday morning, as she sets out to play a total of 27 holes.

Taryn Durham, Jr., Middle Tennessee State

Middle Tennessee State's Taryn Durham played half of her round on Thursday before play was suspended, and shot two over par, tying her for 45th.  Durham made par on six holes, birdied one and bogeyed two, with 27 holes to play on Friday.

Stacy Lewis, Jr., Arkansas

Stacy Lewis did play a full round on Thursday at Pine Needles, but it may well have felt like more. The Razorbacks junior shot seven over par, tying for 131st overall.  Lewis made par on 12 holes, but bogeyed five and shot a double bogey on the 12th hole.

Marci Turner, Jr., Tennessee

Marci Turner didn't get as far as she would have liked on her first day at the U.S. Open, completing eight holes and leaving her with 28 to play on Friday.  Turner made par on five holes and bogeyed three, leaving her tied for 70th at +3.

Selanee Henderson, Jr., UC Irvine

Henderson has been making noise for the Anteaters of Irvine for the past two seasons but her opening round at the U.S. Women's Open was one she'd rather forget. Henderson finished the first 18 holes at 11-over, good enough for last among the collegiates and amateurs alike, tied for 150th.

Sydnee Michaels, Fr., UCLA

Michaels struggled toward the end of her partial round on Thursday, making bogey on two holes and double bogey on two others between the 14th and 18th holes.  With eight holes left to play on Friday before she begins her second round, Michaels is tied for 122nd at six over par.

Maria Jose Uribe, Incoming Freshman, UCLA

Maria Jose Uribe will have one hole left to play in her first round when play resumes Friday morning, and she'll be looking to make up ground.  The incoming UCLA freshman has birdied two holes, but has bogeyed six others and shot one double bogey, and sits tied for 122nd at six over par.

Joanne Lee, Incoming Freshman, USC

This future Woman of Troy has yet to hit the Southern California campus and she's battling it out for the U.S. Women's Open in Carolina. After 18 holes of action on day one, Lee struggled a bit but finished with a 4-over-par 75 to complete the opening round tied for 95th in the field.
