Sibbitt Tied For 15th At WCC Golf Championship

Gonzaga last after Monday's 36-holes

UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. - Gonzaga University's women's golf team finds itself in last place after the opening two rounds of the West Coast Conference Championship at Chambers Bay Golf Course.

The Bulldogs had rounds of 330-329 for a 36-hole score of 659. The Bulldogs are nine strokes behind fourth-place University of Portland. Defending champion Pepperdine University leads the five-team field with a 598.

Gonzaga's Rachel Sibbitt is tied for 15th after rounds of 80-82 for a 162 over the 6,006-yard, par 72 layout on the Chambers Bay Course which will host the 2015 men's U.S. Open. Sarah Sheffield is tied for 17th at 164 after identical rounds of 82 and Lacey Joe Manwaring is 19th with an 85-80 for 185. Sibbitt and Manwaring had the best Bulldog rounds of the day at 80.

Taylore Karle of Pepperdine is the 36-hole leader at 144 after rounds of 71-73, he 71 the lone sub-par round of the day.

Monday's play saw rain fall during most of the morning, followed by blue skies and strong winds during the afternoon and into the evening.
