Field Hockey's Dirks and Berkowitz Earn All-ACC Honors
Both players honored for second time

Greensboro, N.C. - Junior goalkeeper Julia Berkowitz and junior forward Bob Dirks were named to the All-ACC team, according to the roster released on Wednesday. Boston College is hosting the ACC Field Hockey Tournament on Nov. 1, 2 and 4 at the Newton Campus Turf Field.
Berkowitz, a captain, holds the team's 12-7 record for the 2007 season. In her 1,283 minutes, she recorded 98 saves and a 1.53 goals-against average. She is second in the ACC for saves and third for GAA. Her .778 save percentage ties for 19th in the NCAA and third in the conference.
Berkowitz tallied a career-high 17 saves in the 2-0 loss to undefeated North Carolina on Oct. 13 in Chapel Hill, N.C. Berkowitz also saved 15 shots, tying her second highest save total, against No. 3 Wake Forest on Oct. 28 in Winston-Salem, N.C. Overall, she recorded double-digit saves in three games this season.
Dirks leads BC in points (35), goals (12) and assists (10). She is the only player on the Eagles to have double-digit assist and goal totals. Dirks ranks 16th in the NCAA for points per game (1.89). She is the ACC leader for shots with 97 and is tied for third in points and goals. She is tied for fourth for her assist total and is fifth in the conference for points per game.
Dirks now holds BC's career goals and career points records. She has netted 43 goals in her three years as an Eagle and recorded 104 points to top both lists. Dirks tallied at least one point in 13 of the team's 19 regular season games in 2007. She scored two goals against four different teams, including No. 19 Duke.
Boston College, the fourth seed in the ACC Tournament, will battle fifth-seeded Virginia on Thursday, Nov. 1 at 1 p.m. The Eagles beat the Cavaliers, 2-1, in their only matchup this year. The game can be viewed by live webcast on ACC Select.
