MAC Field Hockey Tournament coming to Oxford this week

RedHawks play host to conference foes with NCAA berth at stake

OXFORD, Ohio -

The 2007 Mid-American Conference Field Hockey Tournament will take place this week on the campus of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, with an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament at stake.

Thursday (Nov. 1) marks the first day of play with fourth-seeded Central Michigan playing fifth-seeded Ball State at noon. At 2:30 p.m., the third-seeded RedHawks will host sixth-seeded Missouri State.

Defending tournament champion Ohio University is the top seed in this year's single-elimination play. The Bobcats compiled a 9-1 MAC record (15-4 overall) in 2007 with their only MAC loss coming at second-seeded Kent State on October 7. The Golden Flashes were 7-3 in conference play (12-8 overall). KSU and OU have earned first round byes and will play the winner of Thursday's match-ups on Friday (Nov. 2) with Ohio playing the CMU/Ball State winner at noon and the Flashes playing the Miami/Missouri State winner at 2:30 p.m.

The winners of Friday's contests will play in the MAC Tournament Championship game at noon on Saturday (Nov. 3).

Tickets will be sold to the event prior to each day's matches. Patrons will have the option to purchase a day-pass or an all-tournament pass. Prices for the day-pass will be $10. Prices for the all-tournament pass will be $20. Youth (ages 3-17) tickets will be sold for $5 each day. The price for students with a valid college ID on any day is $2. Gates will open each day at 11 a.m.

Parking for the general public will be available for free in the M-Lot, adjacent to the Miami Field Hockey Turf on Thursday, Nov. 1 and Friday, Nov. 2. On Saturday, Nov. 3, general parking will be made available in the Millett West lot only. The parking fee will not be charged to those cars in Millett West prior to 12 noon.
