Freshman Rachel Taylor earns Player of the Week Honors

Stockton, Calif. - After scoring the only goal for Pacific field hockey against No. 3 Wake Forest (9-4), Rachel Taylor (Southampton, N.Y.) captured her first NorPac Player of the Week honor on Tuesday, Oct. 16. The Southampton high school graduate earned Rookie of the Week after her 12th appearance as a Tiger.

Pacific is 3-10 overall and 2-2 in the conference play.

Taylor notched her first goal in her young collegiate career against Longwood on Oct. 7, during the 3-0 shutout. She has scored two goals and taken only seven shots for the season thus far.

Wake Forest has only allowed one other Tiger to score, teammate Katy McDonough (Ventura, Calif.) scored against the ranked squad in the teams' 2006 rendezvous. The Tigers lost 5-1.

This week Pacific field hockey returns to Tiger territory, where they face Cal. The game is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 20 at 1:00 p.m. PT.
